By Popular Demand: The GingerMet!

Usually this is only a travel blog, but by popular demand I’m posting some photos and video of my first-prize winning gingerbread house—The Metropolitan Gingerbread House, or The GingerMet!

This is the first year that my company has held a gingerbread house contest, inspired by the beautiful and talented Julia Johnston. The only rule is that everything used had to be edible, and there were two divisions—prefab and original. I teamed up with Leslie Tepper and Ted Kossakowski to create our gingerbread opera house (truth be told, Ted didn’t really do anything...but there was a minimum of 3 people per team). And as always, click on any photo to enlarge:

The final result was quite well received, complete with singers, patrons, lights, and music...and won first prize!

The stage featured working stage lights and electric candy flames:

Finally, here are some photos of Julia’s own amazing entry, a gingerbread farmhouse (lucky for us she was ineligible to win!):

Happy holidays!
